7. Tech Topic Connection
The topic I chose was
computer hardware. I’ve always been more interested in the computer’s hardware than
the software because the building processes a computer can go through to fulfill
its use to the customers. The software wouldn’t work if all the hardware isn’t
put together correctly, so without the whole computer wouldn’t work. It’s
interesting because many people are more interested in the internal components
of the computer, they may only think about what they can do with the computer once
it’s set up. But they haven’t thought about how the hardware and the engineers
that built them are what makes that particular computer compatible and run
smoothly.
This topic relates to information
technology because without it the computer wouldn’t be able to process the data
and reach its true potential. Hardware are the physical components of the
computer and built with specific data, so each part is compatible amongst each
other. Information technology pertains to the internal and external parts of a
computer and hardware the external parts that enables users to control or
manipulate the software exactly the way they want. There are two types of
hardware and that is internal and external hardware. Internal hardware are the components
that process or store the data delivered by the operating system (Awati &
Rosencrance, 2021), some examples are the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and hard drive.
The external components, also known as the peripheral components, are used to
control the input and output functions of a computer, such as keyboard, mouse,
microphone, and more. Information technology deals with different types of hardware
because these parts are what lets the consumer be able to use different types
of software. It is technology users can physically touch.
Programming
language relates to hardware because the physical components tend to have its
own algorithms to connect and communicate each other to make the computer fully
functional to the user. It’s called machine language, which is made up of the binary
codes. It’s a way for the computer to talk amongst each other whether that be the
software or hardware. These languages help process information to the right
component and keep the computer working accurately and efficiently.
Hardware also pertains to database since it
provides interface between computer and real-world systems. Database Management
Systems is a technology that supports data management, it’s used to manage and
control data in a database. Hardware is used to store and manipulate the
software or the operating system of a computer, it constantly stores any data
saved in its database. In results the user can keep those settings or records into
their computer files without having to restart.
This tech topic has been closed
to my heart for years, although software is very important to the computer; I
believe that hardware is even more important. The concepts that I’ve learned in
this class grew that interest of hardware to greater depths than I thought was
possible. I’m a visual and a hands-on learner, so being able to touch the physical
parts of the computer is much more fulfilling than the software itself. It’s
evident that once I take on a job in information technology, I would love to seek
out more of the hardware part of the job. It’s much more interesting to me, I
want to be able to learn and create more hardware for the future.
